Karen Hart

Karen Hart, an abstract artist working primarily in acrylics on canvas, creates art in her studio overlooking a beautiful view of open fields and rolling hills in Northeastern Oklahoma. She works intuitively, generally with no preconceived plan when beginning a painting. She is often surprised to see what emerges as the painting develops, and this element of surprise is one of her great delights in painting. Much like a writer, she enjoys the spontaneity of the “first draft” where anything goes, but then edits the painting with the intention of applying solid design principles in the elements of line, color, value, shape, and texture.

Karen earned a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science at Oklahoma State University and worked for many years in corporate information technology designing computer software. Karen’s work is represented in corporate and private collections and has been donated and sold for charitable fundraisers. She is represented by La Montage Fine Art in Lewisville, Texas and Royce Myers Gallery in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
